When the people love you

Muslims do deeds only to please Allaah. A Muslim does not worry about those around him. He does not care about anyone but Allaah because He knows that Tawhiid requires that one only do deeds for the Sake of Allaah. He fears no one but Allaah. Allaah is at the center of his world. Every move he makes is only to please the King of kings.

Then Allaah loves him. Jibriil loves him. The inhabitants of the heavens love him. Finally, the people on earth love him.

Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

When Allah loves a servant, He calls Gabriel and says: Verily, I so and so; you should also love him, and then Gabriel begins to love him.

Then he makes an announcement in the heaven saying: Allah loves so and so and you also love him, and then the inhabitants of the Heaven (the Angels) also begin to love him and then there is conferred honor upon him in the earth; and when Allah is angry with any servant He calls Gabriel and says: I am angry with such and such and you also become angry with him, and then Gabriel also becomes angry and then makes an announcement amongst the inhabitants of heaven: Verily Allah is angry with so-and so, so you also become angry with him, and thus they also become angry with him. Then he becomes the object of wrath on the earth also.

[Sahih Muslim Hadith No. 2637]

If you do deeds only for the Sake of Allaah and you find that people love you, know that Allaah loves you. This is a sign. When you sin and disobey Allaah, you will see that people will hate you. Allaah will take love out of their hearts.

However, you must remember an important fact. You do deeds only to please Allaah and not the people. The love of the people is a result of your good deeds done only for Allaah.

If you do deeds to please the people, you will never attain their love. They may say they love you, but they will despise you.

This is the beauty of Islaam. When you do deeds only to please Allaah people will love you even if people dislike what you did.

And if you do deeds to please the people, they will despise you.

Do deeds only for Allaah and He will love you. The love of the creation will follow. Do deeds to please people and no one will love you. Allaah will not love you. Jibriil will not love you. The inhabitants of the heavens and the earth will not love you.

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection.

[Qur’aan 19:96]

Darwin and the devil

Darwin's young daughter died. He felt hurt. He reasoned a Merciful God would never do such a thing. Because of his loss he waged war on God and formulated the illogical monkey theory known as evolution.

He decided to misguide people away from the path of God.

Darwin is the human form of the devil. The devil worshiped Allaah endlessly. He had a very high status. However, when Allaah told him to prostrate to Adam, he refused. He said he was better than Adam because Adam was made of clay while he was made of fire.

Fire goes up while clay comes down.

Allaah banished him from Paradise and destined him to Hell. He asked for respite until the Day of Judgement so he could misguide the slaves of Allaah.

[Allah] said, “O Iblees, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands? Were you arrogant [then], or were you [already] among the haughty?"

He said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay."

[Allah] said, "Then get out of Paradise, for indeed, you are expelled.

And indeed, upon you is My curse until the Day of Recompense."

[Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved

Until the Day of the time well-known."

[Iblees] said, "By your might, I will surely mislead them all

Except, among them, Your chosen servants."

[Allah] said, “The truth [is My oath], and the truth I say –

[That] I will surely fill Hell with you and those of them that follow you all together."

[Qur’aan 38:75-85]

As you can see, Darwin and the devil are brothers. Darwin decided to misguide people because he lost his beloved daughter. The devil decided to misguide the progeny of Adam because they caused him to lose his high status.

The end result of both is the same. Allaah will cast them into the Fire.

The secret to a good life

The secret to some things is so simple. We search all over the place, but the secret is right there in front of us. I guess if we were not distracted by searching for it, the secret would not really be a secret.

The secret to a good life is in the Qur'aan. You do not have to go to anyone special. You do not need to have someone tell you a special duaa. If you want to have a good life, you simply have to be a believer, do good deeds by following the Commands of Allaah, and stay clear of what He has forbidden.

  • Believe in Him.
  • Follow His Commands
  • Avoid what He has forbidden
  • Make abundant dhikr of Him.

That is it. Apply it and reap the benefits of a good life.

Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.

[Qur’aan 16:97]

And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind."

[Qur’aan 20:124]

Do not turn away from his Sunnah

If you want Allaah to love you, you have to follow the way of the Messneger of Allaah. You cannot invent your own forms of worship and think you are getting close to Allaah. You are not a Messenger from Allaah, and you do not know what pleases Him. He did not inspire you with the revelation.

He sent Messengers. They were sent to carry His Message. The final Messenger was Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam). If you want Allaah to love you, you follow his Messenger. If you do not believe me then read and memorize the following Verse of the Qur'aan.

Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah , then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

[Qur’aan 3:31]

What does Allaah say? He tells His final Messenger to tell you that if you truly love Allaah you are to follow him [i.e. His Messenger]. In return, Allaah will love you and forgive you your sins.

The secret to proving that you love Allaah and to getting Him to love you is that you follow the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam). And to follow him means to follow his Sunnah.

You never want to turn away from his Sunnah by doing that which opposes it. That includes extreme forms of worships which were never stipulated.

Anas (Allah be pleased with him) reported that some of the Companions of Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) asked his (the Prophet's) wives about the acts that he performed in private. Someone among them (among his Companions) said:

I will not marry women; someone among them said: I will not eat meat; and someone among them said: I will not lie down in bed. He (the Holy Prophet) praised Allah and glorified Him, and said: What has happened to these people that they say so and so, whereas I observe prayer and sleep too; I observe fast and suspend observing them; I marry women also. And he who turns away from my Sunnah, he has no relation with Me

[Sahih Muslim Hadith No. 1401]

O Uthmaan indeed I was not ordered with al-Rahbaaniyyah. Are you turning away from my Sunnah? He said: No O Messenger of Allaah. He said: Indeed, it is from my Sunnah that I pray, sleep, fast, eat, marry, and divorce. He who turns away from my Sunnah, then he is not from me. O Uthmaan, indeed your family has a right on you and your body has a right on you.

Why is my dua not answered?

The reason your duaas are not answered is because you lack conviction. Your example is like that of the person who came to the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) for advice regarding his brother who had loose stools.

Allaah has said there is a cure in honey. He was prescribed honey. He complained that the honey made his brother's stomach worse.

Abu Sa'eed said:

"A man came to the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) and said: 'My brother is suffering from loose bowels.' He said: 'Let him drink Honey.' So he drank it. Then he came and said: O Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) ! He has drunk honey, but it has only made him more worse.'

So the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ' Let him drink honey.'" He said: "So he drank it. Then he came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam)! I gave him some more to drink, but it has only made him more worse.'" He said: "The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

'Allah has told the truth, and your brother's stomach has lied. Give him honey to drink'.

So he gave him some more honey to drink and he was cured.'"

[Jaami al-Tirmidhi Hadith No. 2082]

The Messengers of Allaah have complete faith and trust in Allaah. Their conviction is at the ultimate level. When Allaah has said that honey is a cure, then it is a cure. Plain and simple.

Once the man understood this and believed it the loose bowels were gone.

The example also highlights a very important principle:

Do not believe what things appear to be when Allaah has said otherwise.

Allaah said honey is a cure. According to the apparent state of the situation it was not working. But when Allaah has said it is a cure then it is a cure. You believe Allaah and not what you see, hear, smell, or taste.

How will you deal with the trial of the Dajjaal who will have things in his hand resembling hell and heaven claiming to be your lord if you always believe in only the apparent things of life?

Conviction. Have complete and utter conviction in what Allaah says.

He says in the Qur'aan He will answer your duaa. Read and memorize it

“And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you….”

[Qur’aan 40:60]

It took the duaa of Moses, which he made for the destruction of Pharoah, 40 years to come to be. This is what Ibn Kathiir has written in his Tafsir.

Never lose hope. Never think your duaa will not be answered. Your Lord, Allaah, will deal with you as you believe He will. Believe He will answer your duaa with absolute conviction and He will. Otherwise work on your conviction until it is perfect.

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "Allah said, 'I am to my slave as he thinks of Me, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him).

[Sahih al-Bukhari Hadith No. 7505]
