Obedience to mother comes first

al-San'aani said: As for when the right of the father and the right of mother conflict with one another, then the right of the mother is given precedence based on the hadiith in al-Bukhaari:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

A man came to Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) and said, "O Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam)! Who is more entitled to be treated with the best companionship by me?" The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "Your mother." The man said. "Who is next?" The Prophet said, "Your mother." The man further said, "Who is next?" The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "Your mother." The man asked for the fourth time, "Who is next?" The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "Your father. "

al-Qaadi 'iyaadh said: The majority have said that the mother will be given precedence in matters of piety over the father and al-Haarith al-Muhasibi has noted an Ijmaa on the issue.
