The one who misses the Takbiiraat of Eid prayer

According to the Hanbali school of thought, the latecomer who misses the extra Takbiiraat in the Eid prayer will not make them up. These extra Takbiiraat are Sunnah and he missed the place [in prayer] where they were to be performed. He will, therefore, not make them up.

Rulings regarding lavatory

When you enter the lavatory which foot should you put in?

Left foot.

 

When you exit the lavatory which foot should you put out first?

Right foot.

 

What should you say when you enter the lavatory?

In the Name of Allaah – I seek refuge in Allaah from the evil and all that is evil and from the cursed filthy Satan.

 

What should you say when you exit the lavatory?

O Allaah I seek your forgiveness. All praise to Allaah who rid me of harm and gave me health.

 

What can you not carry into the lavatory?

Anything containing the Name of Allaah.

 

Is there any exception to the above rule?

Yes, In case of a need like when someone has to use a public lavatory.

 

How can you protect anything sacred when you have to use a public lavatory?

You should put it in a bag or in your clothes.

 

Is there any specific evidence that you should not carry sacred things into the lavatory?

No.

 

Then what evidence do the scholars use for this prohibition?

Qur'aan Surah No. 22 Verse No. 32

"That [is so]. And whoever honors the symbols of Allah – indeed, it is from the piety of hearts."

 

When you defecate what should you do?

Place more weight on the left leg.

 

Is there any evidence for placing more weight on the left leg when you squat to defecate?

No. There is a weak hadiith which states you should.

 

Then why did the Hanaabilah say one should put more weight on the left leg when one squats to defecate?

They may have acted on the weak hadith.

There may have been medical information at the time which suggested doing so is of benefit.

In such a case the practice would have been recommended because Islamic legislation is about attainment of benefits and avoidance of harm.

 

If you need to defecate outdoors what should you do?

Go far away and screen yourself.

 

What kind of spot should you urinate on?

A soft spot.

 

Why should you urinate on a soft spot?

So the urine does not splatter back on you.

 

You cannot urinate UNDER what?

A fruitful tree.

 

You cannot urinate IN which two things

A hole.
A groove.

 

You cannot urinate ON what?

A shade.
A beneficial path.

 

Can you face the moon or the sun while you urinate or defecate?

No, you cannot.

 

What else can you not face while you urinate or defecate?

The Qiblah.

 

Can you have your back to the Qiblah when you urinate or defecate?

No, you cannot.

 

Why do the Hanaabilah say you cannot face the sun or the moon when you urinate or defecate?

Because there is some of the Nuur of Allaah in them.

Rulings regarding slaughter

If the slaughter of an animal is not acceptable will the slaughtered animal be pure?

No, it will not be pure.

 

Give an example of an unacceptable slaughter?

The slaughter of a murtad.

 

What is a murtad?

An apostate.

 

Can you eat an animal slaughtered by a murtad?

No, you cannot.

 

Is the animal slaughtered by a murtad considered pure?

No, it is impure because the slaughter is not accepted, and the animal falls under the ruling of a dead animal and not a slaughtered animal.

 

If you forget to say the basmalah while slaughtering an animal would the slaughter be acceptable or not?

No, it would not be acceptable.

 

Could you not eat the animal?

No, you could not as it would be haraam.

 

Would the animal be pure?

No, it would be impure.

 

If a muhrim at Hajj slaughtered a hunted animal would the animal be considered slaughtered?

No, the animal would not be considered slaughtered. It would be considered dead.

 

Would the animal be pure?

No, the animal would not be pure.

 

If a polytheist slaughtered an animal would the slaughter be acceptable?

No, it would not be acceptable.

 

Would the animal be pure?

No, it would be impure.

 

If a Muslim slaughtered an animal, the meat of which is haraam, would the slaughter be acceptable?

No, it would not be acceptable.

 

Would the animal be pure?

No. It would be impure.

 

Why are all these slaughters unacceptable?

Because Islamic legislation does not recognize them. They are unacceptable according to the laws of Islaam.

 

If a slaughter is unacceptable according to Islamic legislation then is the animal pure or impure?

She slaughter is not accepted, it is invalid.

That means the animal is not slaughtered. The animal is dead.

A dead animal is impure.

 

What about the slaughter of the People of the Book? Is that acceptable?

Yes. The slaughter of the Jews and Christians is acceptable.

 

Does that mean the slaughtered animal would be pure?

Yes, it would be pure because the slaughter is acceptable.

 

Is there is a difference of opinion about the slaughter of the People of the Book being acceptable?

No. The scholars have a consensus that the slaughter of a Jew or Christian is acceptable.

Can you store makeup in gold and silver utensils?

Can you use utensils made of gold and silver for any purpose?

No.

 

What if the utensils are not made of gold and silver but are only soldered with them?

You still cannot use them.


Can you use the utensils and clothes of the people of the Book?

Yes, unless you know they are impure.

 

Who are the People of the Book?

The Christians and the Jews.

 

Can I eat from the plates of a Christian?

Yes, unless you know it is impure. Then you cannot.

 

Can I drink from the glass of a Jew?

Yes, unless you know it is impure. Then you cannot.

 

What parts of a dead animal are pure?

The wool and the hair. The feathers are also pure.

 

Is the hair of a dead pig pure?

No, because the pig is considered impure while it is alive. Hence, its hair is impure even when it is dead.

 

What is the ruling regarding the hair and wool of dead animals?

If the animal is considered pure while it is alive, then its hair and wool are pure even when it is dead.

 

What does a dead animal refer to?

An animal which has not been slaughtered.

 

Is the hide of a dead animal pure or impure?

It is impure.

 

What if you tan the hide of a dead animal?

It still remains impure.

 

Are the bones of dead animals pure?

No, they are not pure.


Does this mean the ivory taken from dead elephants is impure?

Yes, it is impure because the ivory is from the tusks of the elephant. These are the upper incisors.

 

Are the bones pure if the dead animal is from among those whose meat it is permissible to eat?

No, the bones are still impure.

 

Can these bones be purified in anyway?

No, they cannot be purified in anyway.

 

So, if someone shot an elephant and took its ivory to sell it would be impure ivory?

Yes, it would be impure.
