Save your deeds from going to waste
If you do not want the reward of your good deeds to go to waste then you must be a believer. You must believe in the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam), follow him (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam), and act in accordance with that which he (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) has brought from Allaah.
They receive good tidings of favor from Allah and bounty and [of the fact] that Allah does not allow the reward of believers to be lost -
[3:171]
Imaam al-Tabari writes:
ومعنى قوله: " لا يضيع أجر المؤمنين "، لا يبطل جزاء أعمال من صدّق رسوله واتبعه، وعمل بما جاءه من عند الله
And the meaning of the following portion of the Verse is
does not allow the reward of believers to be lost -
He [i.e. Allaah] does not make void the reward of the deeds of the one who believes in His Messenger and follows him and acts in accordance to that which he has brought from Allaah.
