Learn to be brothers

O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
Qur'ān 49:12

Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

'Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the falsest of speech.

Do not eavesdrop; do not spy on one another; do not envy one another; do not forsake one another; do not hate one another.

Be, O slaves of Allaah, brothers."

Today, we slander one another. We are jealous of our brothers. We wish that what they have is taken away from them and given to us.

We fight with one another over minor issues. We have forgotten what Islaam tells us about being brothers.

If there is a fiqh discussion we will argue with one another until we are blue in the face, but we cannot get the basics right. We hate one another, lie about one another, backbite about one another, envy one another, and suspect one another.

We go so far as to tell the other that we know what his intentions were! Subhaan Allaah. Since when did we have knowledge of the unseen.

May Allaah guide us to what Allaah and His Messenger sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam have ordered us to do.
