Ask protection against the evil of your Nafs

And I do not acquit myself. Indeed, the soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil, except those upon which my Lord has mercy. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."

[Qur'aan 12:53]

The Nafs orders you to do that which it desires even if the Pleasure of Allaah is not in it. Only those who Allaah has mercy on are saved from following the desires of their Nafs. Only they are able to keep themselves from following the evil their Nafs commands them to indulge in.

Make dua Allaah has mercy on you and keeps you safe from the evil of your Nafs.

Abu Rashid Al-Hubrani said:

"I came to 'Abdullah bin 'Amr and said to him: 'Report something to me that you heard from the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam).' So he set forth before me a scroll and said: 'This is what the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) wrote for me.'" He said: "So I looked in it and found in it: 'Indeed, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "O Messenger of Allah, teach me what to say at morning and afternoon."

He said: "O Abu Bakr, say: 'O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, there is none worthy of worship except You, Lord of everything and its Owner, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my NAFS and from the evil of Shaitaan and his Shirk, or that I should do some evil to myself or bring it upon a Muslim
